EPISODE 28: Questions to Ask Yourself When You Feel Triggered
Have you ever found yourself caught in a moment of frustration or resentment, only to later realize it wasn’t really about the situation at hand? In today’s episode, we dive into the art of self-reflection when we feel triggered. I’m sharing a personal story from this weekend about Christmas decorating, unspoken expectations, and how a moment of pause helped me avoid an unnecessary argument with my husband. Together, we’ll uncover how asking ourselves the right questions can lead to clarity, peace, and even gratitude in challenging moments.
We’ll explore a simple yet powerful framework of questions to guide us through emotional triggers, from examining our expectations to shifting our perspective and connecting with gratitude. These tools remind us that we’re never upset for the reason we think—and that every moment of frustration is an opportunity for personal growth. Whether you’re navigating conflict in relationships, criticism, or unmet expectations, this episode offers practical insights to help you choose peace over reaction.

Julie this podcast truly speaks to me. I experienced a situation lately with a person who feels threatened by me. This person is someone that I barely know but tries to let me know that she is better in every way. This is 8th grade mean girl behavior and I have chosen not to respond or be around this person because my own peace will be sacrificed. I looked at my reason for not wanting to be around this person and realized that deep down I allowed myself to feel i adequate. She doesnt MAKE me feel inadequate. I’ll try to always remember that God made a Denise because he wants to use me for his purpose and that is to remaing loving, kind and generous to others and also myself. THANK YOU FOR THE REMINDER! Have a joyous and peaceful Christmas Julie.
